I will never forget a shift I had in med school and the patient was on high blood pressure medication due to being on Claritin-D for daily long-term use! Remember, all medications have side effects, so make sure you are not on an RX for the side effect of the first RX!
Did you also know there is research now about the long-term use of Benedryl use being linked to dementia? And, many ppl are just using this as a sleep aid! You have to find the root cause of why you can’t sleep if you are depending on this.
Here are some of my favorite go to’s for allergies:
- Aller-C: high dose vitamin c has been shown to lower histamine in the body. This product also has bioflavonoids, quercetin & enzymes to decrease histamine and oxidative damage in the body.
- D-Hist: this is one of my favorite supplements for allergies. It has nettles that help the liver process allergens, quercetin that helps secure the membranes of immune cells that hold histamine to keep it from spilling into the blood, enzymes to break down histamine, and NAC to help with mucus.
- Allergena: Homeopathic preparation based on the allergens in your state. Go to their website and figure out what zone you are in.
Don’t forget! There are many causes behind allergies, including poor liver function, gut function, food allergies & also adrenal function!
Ditch gluten and dairy! That usually helps A LOT. If you are still suffering from allergies, there is a deeper root cause that you have to work on.
